Baghdad is undergoing a rapid transformation, emerging as a new hub of high-end luxury design in western Asia.

The city, birthplace of renowned architects and designers like Zaha Hadid, has recently seen a wave of initiatives aimed at showcasing Italian creativity and excellence in the sector, many of which have been promoted by our very own embassy to facilitate Italy’s entry into a market that is evolving at an ever-quickening pace.

Cesar is currently making its own contribution to bringing the outstanding quality of Made in Italy furnishings to the Iraqi capital with the opening of its new mono-brand showroom, Cesar by Hamandi Interiors.

Founded in 1987 by Ali Hamandi, the company was the first to introduce high-quality solid wood kitchens to Iraq, quickly becoming a trusted name for presidential palaces and prestigious private residences. Today, thanks to the hard work of his sons, Hussein and Ahmed, Hamandi Interiors has become a strong leader luxury furnishings sector.

The new showroom offers its sophisticated clientele a truly unique experience, showcasing some of Cesar’s most iconic designs, including Tangram, N_Elle, and Maxima.

The fluid, sinuous lines that define the Tangram kitchen island are enhanced by the interplay of light and shadow created by the fluted Verde Comodoro metallic-look lacquered doors, which exalt the colour of the true centrepiece of the composition: the worktop in Breccia Imperiale marble, a rare natural gem featuring a web of white veining set against a deep green background.

The Maxima tall units, in high-gloss Acacia veneer, frame the space and conceal, thanks to the Revego retracting doors, a niche featuring the Dressup system with a splashback in Breccia Imperiale marble.

Meanwhile, the N_Elle island stands out for its extraordinary Rosso Lepanto marble cladding, which is reflected in the Maxima 2.2 fluted mirror glass doors. This monolithic piece is framed by a wall-mounted The 50’s bookcase, giving the space a graceful and airy feel.

Darker tones can be found in the Unit island composition (Fenix Rosso Jaipur finish) with a dark oak frame and snack bar in Corvino oak veneer. This is paired with Maxima 2.2 tall units featuring grey smoked glass shelving and doors.

These are just some of the arrangements on display in the new showroom. The originality of the design, quality of the materials, and meticulous attention to detail are destined to make Cesar one of the most sought-after brands among a local clientele that desires exclusive furnishing solutions which are the product of Italian creativity and craftsmanship. The showroom is a tribute to the fusion of Italian tradition and Iraqi heritage, a collaboration that both Cesar and Hamandi Interiors are deeply proud of.
